Because this is the “first post in weeks”, let me summarize my summer as it has been so far:
- Kerstin and I went to IKEA to buy stuff. Stuff includes a shelf (Expedit) for Kerstin’s room, chests (for CDs, paper, …) which fit right into Expedit (I have one, too), and kitchen-stuff. Tim kindly lent us his car.
- Kerstin’s parents and her brother Felix visited us. My parents visited us one week later. (Bummer! It would have been totally sweet, had they met again—they met once in the last four years, which is just not enough, of course.)
- I visited an old friend, Markus (”the architect”), in Frankfurt. He is living pretty close to my brother Tobi (”the Everlast”) in Frankfurt-Bockenheim. We went to the Gursky exhibition in Darmstadt (Mathildenhöhe).
- I visited another old friend, Myron (author and philosopher) in Freiburg i. Brsg.
- We (Kerstin and I) vistited yet another old friend of mine (Robert) in Berlin. He is living together with his girlfriend in Berlin Prenzlauerberg. At one day we attended the German Stata Users Group Meeting.
- I went to Kiel doing research for my paper with Markus Gangl and Claus H. Carstensen: multilevel analysis (HLM) using PISA-EOM data. Working title of the project is something like “The Causal Effect of Delayed Tracking on Inequality of Educational Opportunity—The Case of the German Länder” Results look nice, i.e. the way I want them to be: significant and in line with my/our hypothesis. Hopefully, I will be able to post a first draft of a presentation or paper soon. I would love to receive some comments.
- Kerstin got accepted in Bamberg. It is not official by now. However, she is looking for a place (share house/appartment, preferably) in Bamberg, move in date would be October, 1st. She will be working with Hans-Peter Blossfeld and Voker Stocké within the NEPS framework. NEPS is the National Education Panel Study, a huge panel study starting in October at several places (universities/institutes) in Germany.
- I will upload photos (”Best of Bloomington (People)”) soon. Promise.
- I need a new bike. Bruno?
These were just the highlights as I remember them at the moment.
And now, let me hunt some food for Kerstin and me—it’s lunch time.

Hi Bruno,

Two things:
(1) When will you visit your old friends in Bloomington?
(2) I better be included in your ‘Best of Bloomington’ photo album.

Three things:
(0) You are commenting on my blog. That is (a) an honor and (b) awesome.
(1) I would love to come next summer. However, that depends heavily on my financial situation and (somewhat linked to that) on my job situation—will I have a job, etc.? I guess it is more likely to see you at a conference (ASA, ISA [RC28?], etc.)
(2) Dude, how could you have doubts? You are. And, actually, it is online since a couple of days. I will post an “official release post” in a bit.
