Bilingual blogging on SEW-Blog

From now on, I will post in both German and English. Why?

The original idea of this blog was to inform my family and friends in Germany about my Bloomington- and US-experience. Back in Mannheim, Germany (see entries in Encyclopaedia Britannica or Wikipedia) I left friends in Bloomington—no family, hopefully ;) . The straightforward consequence is blogging for my friends in Bloomington, many at the Sociology Department of Indiana University, some in the house I had lived in for nine months. Of course, I will continue blogging for everybody who is interested in the life of a (more or less) grad-student in social science with emphasis on sociology and his perception of the world, Germany, the US and—last but not least—the social science.

For most convenient access to recent posts you might want to consider subscribing to my blog through appropriate applications, e.g. Google reader. It might be even possible to subscribe just to updates categorized as “English”. Let me know if I can be of any help.

I apologize (in advance) for my screwed up English. Don’t be nice, correct me whenever necessary.

Any resources I could use in helping an american raise her child with english and german would be great. I am grad from SPEA so great to see your site.

Pecos blue, I am not sure if I can be of any help here. I don’t know anything about raising children (=no practical experience) and my bilingualism allows me to write this blog in both German and English—that’s it, I guess. That you are IU grad is pretty sweet of course. All the best.

I was in Freiburg for two years. We go back nearly every other year. It is a great place.
